Yogi Chai Tea

This tea is not only aromatic and comforting but also packed with health benefits from spices like ginger to soothe the stomach, cinnamon and cardamom for digestion, and tea as a natural antioxidant.

Ingredients:

  • 2 quarts water

  • 15 whole cloves

  • 20 cardamom pods

  • 20 black peppercorns

  • 3 cinnamon sticks

  • A few slices of ginger (no need to peel)

  • 1/2 tsp black tea (regular or decaf) or one small tea bag

Preparation:

  • Bring the water to a boil in a medium-sized saucepan.

  • Split the cardamom pods by gently crushing them with the side of a knife.

  • Add the cloves, cardamom, peppercorns, cinnamon, and ginger to the saucepan.

  • Let the spices simmer for a few minutes until the water starts to change color.

  • Add the tea, stir slightly, cover, reduce the heat, and let it simmer for 30 minutes.

Cooking and serving tips:

Chai is traditionally served with milk. You can use dairy milk or a non-dairy alternative like coconut milk. Though I usually keep it black and unsweetened for a healthier option, feel free to add a little milk and honey for a richer taste.

Enjoy!
